Simulator for evaluating control planes in NGSO constellations

NTN-CPD: Simulator for evaluating control planes in NGSO constellations

The NTN-CPD project aims to enable the evaluation of NGSO constellation control planes through the development of the Nova simulator.

Nova will enable the evaluation of highly dynamic satellite constellations and protocols in high detail. It supports 3GPP-specified NTN system architectures as well as both transparent and regenerative satellite systems.

NRT simulator for LEO satellite constellations

4SSTB: Non-real-time simulator for LEO satellite constellations

In the 4SSTB project, Magister and VTT developed a non-real-time (NRT) simulator for LEO satellite constellations to support European satellite research initiatives like IRIS².

The simulator models whole satellite constellations in software, supporting configurations for the number of satellites and terminals, and the type of traffic they handle.

The simulation results help measure the expected performance of constellations and provide crucial insights for 5G standardization.

UAV-3S: Developing system simulator towards UAV SatCom use cases

In the UAV-3S project, Magister is designing a system simulator that provides performance indicators for the development of UAV satellite terminals.

We will support various satellite system configurations to serve a set of UAV terminals, including satellite constellations, frequency bands, and satellite air interfaces like 5G NR-NTN and DVB.

This tool will help analyze UAV satellite terminal requirements when served by various SatCom systems, improving UAV communication reliability in challenging environments and supporting the future development of UAV satellite services.

5G-SPECTRA: Simulation tools for evaluating TN/NTN coexistence

In the 5G-SPECTRA project, we developed simulation tools for evaluating how terrestrial (TN) and non-terrestrial networks (NTN) can coexist – particularly when using adjacent radio frequencies. The simulations help define technical constraints to prevent performance loss.

Partnering with Satellite Applications Catapult and the University of Surrey, Magister ran detailed simulations across FR1 and FR2 bands for IoT and directional terminals.
